Auction and Retal Schemes online

Lost the Auction but Saved your Wallet

In a day of growing business, networking and marketing online, there is also a dramatic growth in ways to fraud innocent people. “Work at Home” business opportunities, identity theft, the Nigerian lottery and last but most certainly not least, auction and retail schemes online. Generally these auctions sell the consumer a hot button item for an incredibly low fee. For instance, the new Apple iPhone 3G is a great seller at this moment so they are for sale all over the internet. Average retail price is around $300 but some of the auctions are selling it for as low as $50! Bidding on this auction, people think they are getting a great deal but in reality bank account information is being stolen; they could be buying a fake or even just a dummy product (the outer shell of the real phone).

The best way to combat this is to check the feedback on the seller or company selling. Make sure they are legitimate. Ask questions! Better yet, shop with a company you already know and trust. If that means spending a little bit more money for peace of mind, it is a worthwhile investment. If bargain shopping is a must and there are still concerns or doubts, call your Bank or Credit Card Company. Ask for a “dummy” or “one-time use” credit card in place of your real card. These are used to mask the real card number. Do whatever is possible to protect yourself, your family and your money.
