Dating scams online have always been around. Therefore ever since the birth of the internet con artists build relationships over a period of time, sometimes even up to a year before finally convincing the victim to send them money. Chat rooms are a hot spot where such scammers lurk, slowly plotting and spotting victims daily, the more he captures the better chances he has unfortunately. These scammers try their best to gain the victim’s affection so that when they are ready to strike and ask for money, the victim will be fooled into thinking he/she is doing it for “love” when in fact the scammer only wants to get into their pockets.

When you are in chat rooms easy signs of bad intentions usually happen the moment you receive the first instant message. Messages where “I love you” is said to you too soon or if you are asked for money at any time by your online “friend.”
