Employment
Scams
Beware
of Your Personal Information
When it
comes to applying for that new job, handing over
your personal information is something you should be extremely wary of
from the
beginning of the application process. The collection of personal
information
before the offering of an official job or interview can be a sign of
employment
scam and should be avoided like the plague.
The application process for a new job should entail filling out a
written or
virtual application either in person or online. This application will
often
include your name, address, contact information and past education and
work
history. In some cases, the fraudulent job applications will ask for
more
specific personal information like social security numbers or banking
information as a “background” check.
These job applications should be avoided as personal information should
never
be handed out before the official in person interview has been held.
The only
time personal information should be given to a prospective employer is
after
the job offer has been completed and the human resources department is
collecting the final information for payroll purposes.
Keeping your personal identity safe is essential to avoiding employment
scams.
As soon as you hand over that personal data, the collector can steal
your
identity and financially destroy your identity.
